My Story

Yesterday I lost my best friend, Missy.  She has been by my side for the last nine years.
I adopted Missy from an animal shelter in Elmsford, New York. When I first saw her, she was chained outside to a pole and was jumping up and down to get my attention basically telling me to pick her, and I was so happy I did.

Missy became so attached to me and her dad, Anthony, that she never wanted us to leave the house. You could call it separation anxiety. When we would come home, she would  jump on top of us and  not calm down until she knew we were going to stay. Soon after, I found out she had another trick. Her love for food led her to sneak in the refrigerator when we weren't home and help herself to whatever she wanted. This included cupcakes or chicken.  I would find the  cupcake wrappers on the floor when I got home. She took the time to take the wrappers off!

Her favorite game when she was younger was "Get Benny." That was what we would say when she would chase Benny, my Siamese cat around the house., This was part of her natural herding instinct.

She loved riding in the car and I would love to take her places.

In 2006, Missy developed diabetes and I had to give her two insulin shots each day. The diabetes did slow her down and eventually would make her almost blind.  As she began to slow down, I saw other ailments like arthritis and eventually more serious ailments as weight loss and coughing.

I am devastated by this loss. It is hard to adjust to life without her by my side. I love you Missy Moo Moo, you will always have a place in my heart.

Just this side of heaven is place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water, and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks in the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly, he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted
, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from you life, but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.................
