My Story

I was introduced to Oscar on Halloween evening 2000,Tony had been out and found Oscar in a cat's home after looking through the  cats who needed a new home the owner said she may have the perfect cat for him.She went down to a shed at the back of the garden and came back with this huge fluffy cat who immediately tried to attack the others-hence why he was out the back in another shed!
Tony said "He's the one"
I came home from work it was a new job and I was tired and walked in to be greeted by this big cat who was purring away on the sofa he didn't like me picking him up and made some growling noises!
Susan a good friend was with Tony at the time they had chosen him she stayed over and was saying what fun they had with him in the cats home.
He was a lovable "rogue" and the name Oscar was in my mind and Susan suddenly piped up "Oscar would be a great name for him" and with that twist in fate Oscar it was.
Oscar turned out to be a lovely gentle cat he would love sitting on your lap and squeezing his paws into you like you were his mother.
The woman in the cat shelter said he belonged to an old lady who had died and he was left in a garden to fend for himself.
I always wondered what his name was and how old he was but his birthday was always Halloween the day tony had bought him for me.
Oscar lived with us in many different places always adapting to his new home and finding new places to have adventures in.When moved from the UK to Ireland in 2006 Oscar came with us and spent 8 hours in a small cat holder whilst we drove to the ferry port and travelled across to make a new life in Ireland.
Oscar quickly adapted to the countryside and was always out and about but when I called him he would come running meowing and purring I would pick him up and cuddle him and tell him how much  I loved him and how beautiful he was his fur was always so soft and his eyes were emerald green i always held him like a baby and thats what he loved.
Yesterday morning he was missing I called out to him but he never appeared and usually he would wait at the back door for his food. We decided to take Dylan our dog for a walk and just ready to walk up the country lane I could see something in the road ahead I knew it was Oscar I could see the big bushy tail I wanted to go and check but was too scared to.Tony walked closer and the moment I saw his hands go over his face I walked the other way I could not think straight Tony came back with a blanket to collect him i followed him wanting to see if it was him but not wanting to remember him lying in the road I caught a glimpse of him and I can't get this image out of my head .Tony walked down the road with him cold and covered over and placed him on the grass.
I would give anything to have a last moment with him and tell him how much I love him and that he was always and will always be special to me nothing can ever replace my dear Oscar.
