My Story

Ray came to our lives when he was just less than 2 months old.  My brother was at a party and he was given Ray as a present.  Of course, when my brother brought him home we fell inlove with him, with his playful antics.

We loved Ray and he loved us but his favourite was Mum.  Mum took him under her wing when he was a puppy and he followed her around.  Ray would greet everyone but he dotted on Mum.  He would wait for her and every time she came home he would be there to greet her.  He even knew the time she would come home and he would be out ready to greet her even before she got out of the car.

As he was growing up he learned that being cute had its advantages.  He would look at us soulfully or he would nudge us with his nose or head letting us know he wanted something.  His favourite item was any of Mum's clothing. He was a "mummy's boy" and he knew it.

Ray had a mane similar to that of a lion, and my Dad would often commented on this.  Even to this day, my dad would say that Ray was truly unique.  There was a time when my dad was having a bad dream and Ray woke him up by jumping on him.  My Dad later revealed that he dreamt that he was about to be attacked by a large animal and thankfully Ray woke him up just in time.

He was a curious dog that one time someone left a cup of coffee on the table and we later found him lapping the coffee.  We told him not to go on the table and not to drink anything on the table.  Of course he used his puppy eyes on us.

Unfortunately in late 2004 Ray started having spinal problems.  It was a hard thing to see our beloved dog deteriorate and with the vet doctor's recommendation we said our farewells to Ray in this physical realm.  I know we will see him again, his lion mane puffed and him standing looking strong and proud.
