My Story

Shaya was a wonderful, friendly old Husky-Lady from the Berlin animal shelter.

We met each other at the end of November 2010 and on the 6th of December I took her with me. She was obviously an older one and had problems with her hips and back and already an operation on cancer, but she was very young in mind. Once the veterinarian said: "There are old dogs who think they are still young." That sentence was made for her.

I don't know where she came from because she was found somewhere but I think she wasn't mistreated - she was only in the beginning very insecure. From day to day she became more faithful and even playful. For one and a half year we spent nearly every minute together and she gave me so much with her unique and friendly character. I loved her a lot and I think she loved me either.

The problems with her moving grew but I did all possible to ease her life.

I knew we hadn't an unlimited time together, but then from one day to another she passed away. On the day before she had eaten as usual and so in the morning, we had a last walk (what I of course didn't know at that point) - she only vomited once (something that also sometimes happened as a reaction to the medication), she went to sleep - also normal for an older one - and when I wanted to go out with her in the late afternoon she couldn't stand up. I brought her to the animal hospital - but it was already too late - within one and a half hour she passed away. I was caressing her and told her how I loved her, so she hadn't to be alone on this last way. The reason was an unrecognized inner cancer which pried suddenly open.

This was exactly three months ago on the 26th of June 2012. I still can't believe she is no more here. She was such a beautiful, curious, patient and wonderful husky-lady. I am deeply grateful for every day and every minute I had with her - and it was far too short  - only one and a half year.

Even if I ever will have another dog - she will stay my unique first queen.
Rest in peace my little darling.
