My Story
Calli
When I was growing up, we had alot of cats, but none of them compared to Calli. I had acquired Calli while going through a divorce. She was there with me through some of the lowest and highest parts of my life.
She was my buddy!! She would always lay, right beside me and had to touch me with a paw. If I came in the door and she wasn't sitting there waiting for me, then something was terribly wrong. She was my watchcat!!! She always sensed when I didn't feel good and she would not leave my side until I was better. She developed a bond with my daughter and had became that way her also. My daughter had a water bed, so Calli had decided that she would make that her bed too.
Over the years, her new nickname had become" grouchy gram" since she was the oldest of four. With her health starting to deteriorate, it was hard for her to maintain her long hair and she hated to be brushed, so she had to be groomed and her coat had to be shaved, the groomer gave her a lion cut. Did not work for her!!! She developed thyroid problems and became deaf. My daughter said it was selective hearing! Knowing Gram, that was the case! She refused to take a pill! Her medication was made into a gel, for easy absorption, that we rubbed inside of her ear. It smelled like corn!!!
She was such a trooper, just kept going and plugging away, until she developed a kidney infection. She was in the animal hospital for a couple of days, the vet called and said she could come home. On the way to bring her home, just 7 minutes away, (probably for spite of the haircut) she passed on.
Its been over two years, we still miss her, but once in awhile, we will get a whiff of corn and we just smile, because we know, she will always be right beside us!
Much love, Always on our minds, Forever in our hearts.
