We adopted Jake when he was 4
months old from Cocheco Valley Humane Society. He was a darling little puppy
just wanting to find a home and he did. He was welcomed with loving arms in our
house. My sister and I loved him right away. That love would only grow and grow
throughout the years.
I would spend my weekends and long summer
days in the backyard with Jake playing and training him. We'd play with his
favorite toys and then take long walks. When we weren't outside playing Jake
would be inside busy trying to hide one of many of his rawhide bones.
Constantly burring it under pillows or between the couch cushions, and then
changing his mind and doing it all over again. Once his bone was hidden Jake’s
favorite thing to do would be to curl up on his blanket in front of the
sliders. On nice days the sun would come in and hit his blanket just right it
was his favorite spot.
Jake was the most loving dog around. He
loved his family as we loved him. Each day with him was a memorable one filled
with cherished memories and love. He brightened each day no matter how dark, he
helped find sunshine on a rainy day, he kept us warm on cold winter nights.
When we where sad he was there to cheer us up. When we were feeling lonely he
was there to be a friend and make us laugh. Jake has always been there for his
family, and even though he is no longer with us he is still here when we need
him most. And forever will be.
Our time together was short but those were the best years of my life. I
will cherish them for the rest of my life and carry you in my heart for just as
long.
