My Story

Maxx came into my life very unexpectedly in 1996 in Houston, Texas. I was in a pet store with a friend of mine and I heard this little squeeky bark and went to check it out. There was a kennel with these four little Yorkie puppies and the tiniest one of them all was barking and growling at a Boxer puppy in the next kennel that was 10x his size. That ferocious attitude never ever changed! He was larger than life. I had to have him so I took him home with me that same day.

He was such a funny puppy, he was very outgoing and silly and friendly. He loved everyone he encountered, and he was so full of spunk!

Maxx loved going to the beach with me, and loved swimming in the ocean. NOTHING scared him!!

When Maxx was a year old, I decided he needed a playmate so I went looking. I responded to an ad in the local paper for Yorkie puppies. I went to meet the puppies and found out that this was actually where he came from! The puppies were from the same Mom & Dad dog!! So we picked out a female, he helped pick her.. he actually drug her out of the dog bed and immediately wanted to play with her. So when she was old enough to leave their Mom, she came home with us. I named her Maci. She and Maxx were instant best friends.

Maxx (and Maci) moved all over the US with me, he lived in Texas, Massachusetts, Florida, Iowa, California, Kansas and Minnesota! He was a very well traveled puppy dog!

Maxx lost his little sister, Maci, in January of 2003 to a tragic drowning accident. He was so sad and missed her so much.

In 2004, Maxx started having constant recurring urinary issues. We tried everything to get him over it, but the doctors could never seem to find the answer for him. Finally, in 2006, he was starting to show the wear and tear of all the infections. He wasn't the happy-go-lucky little guy he had always been. He started losing weight, losing the desire to play, and just looked miserable. The UTIs were now a constant part of his life and I knew he was trying to tell me that he had been through enough. So Stacy and I made the horrible, difficult decision to end his suffering. We had him euthanized and buried him in our back yard along with his little sister's ashes.

We have two new puppies now that our family is crazy about - but none could ever replace our Macaroni!! I miss him lots and I am so glad I got to spend 10 wonderful, fun-filled years with him!
