My Story

I remember the moment I first laid eyes on Teddy- what a gorgeous little pup he was! My family and I went to a private residence and saw a litter of chihuhua cross poodles. All of them were black, except for one dark brown one- Teddy. My sister fell in love with him instantly and so did we.

We took him home, and while at first he howled for his mum and his family, he quickly got used to us and fell in love with us. He was such a fantastic dog and was always happy. When he was a pup, he did a few naughty things as they all do when they are small. I remember him stealing my grandmother's slippers and running off with them on numerous occasions. But he was so cute you just couldn't be angry at him for long.

Our first visit to the vet identified Teddy as having a heart murmur. But as time went on, it didn't slow him down! He was always running around the yard, barking happily at everyone who walked past our home :)

With the passing of my mother in Sept 2005 and my father going overseas to live shortly after, I inherited the family dog. I loved him so much and my husband fell in love with him too. Even though when he first moved in with us, he said he would only be allowed to be inside the house on one condition- that he be in the laundry. That didn't even last one night!

He was more than a dog to both of us- he was like our little son as we don't have children yet. He would sit with us on the lounge as we watched TV. He loved cuddling and giving us kisses. When it was cold, we would put a nice warm dog shirt on him. Most of all, he loved sleeping in his "Furberry" bed and we would put a blanket on him when it was cold.
Unfortunately, as he got older, his heart weakened and eventually lead to him living with heart disease. He took medication for it, and again, it didn't lessen his will to live. The vet once commented that it definitely didn't seem to slow him down! But eventually, it took it's toll on him.

I will never forget you- my special angel friend. You were the best dog ever and you will be in my heart forever xo
